Connecting YouVsYou to your Concept2 PM5 rowing monitor allows the app to display your real-time rowing data. Follow these steps to establish the connection:
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Bluetooth and ensure Bluetooth is turned on.
YouVsYou requires Bluetooth to communicate with your PM5.
On your PM5, press the MENU button to go to the main screen.
Navigate to More Options → Connect App.
Ensure App Connection is set to Enabled.
If it's disabled, use the PM5 buttons to enable it.
Check that the PM5 is not already connected to another device or app.
The PM5 can only connect to one app at a time. If another device is connected, disconnect it first.
Open the YouVsYou app on your iPhone or iPad.
YouVsYou will scan for available PM5 monitors. When your PM5 appears in the list, tap on it to connect.
Keep the Connect App screen visible on your PM5 for the best connection experience.
Once connected, YouVsYou will automatically receive rowing data from your PM5. You can start rowing and see your stats update in real-time within the app.
If your rowing data isn't appearing in YouVsYou, the connection between your PM5 and the app may have been interrupted. Follow these steps to re-establish the connection:
On your PM5, press the MENU button to return to the main screen.
Press the MENU button 4 times to turn off the PM5 completely.
On your iPhone or iPad, force quit the YouVsYou app.
Swipe up from the bottom and hold, then swipe up on the YouVsYou app card.
Turn the PM5 back on by pressing the MENU button once.
On the PM5, navigate to More Options → Connect App.
Ensure App Connection is enabled and the PM5 is not connected to another device.
If another device is connected, you'll need to disconnect it first.
Reopen YouVsYou on your device and tap the PM5 name to connect.
For the best experience, keep the Connect App screen visible on your PM5 while connecting to YouVsYou.
If your PM5 isn't showing up in the YouVsYou connection list, there are two common causes: Bluetooth may be disabled on your device, or App Connection may be turned off on your PM5.
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Bluetooth and ensure Bluetooth is turned on.
On your PM5, press the MENU button to go to the main screen.
Navigate to More Options → Connect App.
Ensure App Connection is set to Enabled.
Check that the PM5 is not already connected to another device.
The PM5 can only connect to one app at a time. Disconnect any other apps or devices first.
Return to YouVsYou — your PM5 should now appear in the connection list.
YouVsYou requires Bluetooth to communicate with your PM5. The app cannot see or connect to your rowing machine without Bluetooth enabled.
YouVsYou has minimum requirements for a workout to be saved. This helps filter out accidental or incomplete sessions from your workout history.
For a workout to be saved, it must meet both of these requirements:
Duration must be longer than 30 seconds
Distance must be greater than 50 metres
If your workout meets these requirements but still wasn't saved, ensure YouVsYou remained connected to your PM5 throughout the entire session.
Heart rate data from your Apple Watch may take up to a few minutes to appear in YouVsYou after starting your workout. If it's still not showing, check the following:
Ensure the YouVsYou app is installed on your Apple Watch.
Open the Watch app on your iPhone and check that YouVsYou appears in your installed apps.
In YouVsYou on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings and ensure Heart Rate Data Source is set to Apple Watch.
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone or iPad.
Go to Settings → Bluetooth and ensure it's turned on.
Ensure your Apple Watch is unlocked and worn on your wrist.
Start rowing — the YouVsYou app on your Apple Watch should launch automatically when your workout begins.
If it doesn't auto-launch, manually open the YouVsYou app on your Apple Watch.
Wait up to 1–2 minutes for heart rate data to sync and appear in the app.
For the most reliable connection, keep your iPhone or iPad within Bluetooth range of your Apple Watch during your workout.
